Job Role: Video Editor
Type: Freelance, project based
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne or surrounding area
Rate: £120 per day (8 hours)
Deadline to Apply: December 30th, 2022
Description of Role:
Helping to create educational, promotional and online content for small to medium sized companies. This position is great for someone who is looking to jump into their first editing role such as a current university student or a recent graduate.
An example of the type of content you will help to create is shown below.
As the editor you will be given the raw audio and screen captures for the videos and tasked to edit the animations, annotations and graphics together to complete the video.
You will be asked to use Camtasia which is an editing software that has the built in tools to record and edit this type of content. Don't worry if you've never used Camtasia, so long as you've edited a video before, you'll be able to edit within Camtasia. An editing laptop, hard drive, and style guidelines will be provided for you to help set you up for success!
Being a freelance role, you'll be able to complete the work in whatever time works best for you. So long as you hit your deadlines (which you also help to set), this role is as flexible as you want it to be.
The amount of work for the first quarter of 2023 is as follows:
January - 5 days
February - 5 days
March - 3 days
Desired Skills:
Time Management - you will be working independently and will be required to track your time across the project. Being able to accurately estimate how long it'll take you to complete a video is important.
Organised - Working with multiple assets (video, image, audio) you must be able to organise your project files and folder files for others to easily find and use
Communication - email and chat communication is key as this is the primary way to provide updates during projects
Attention to Detail - especially when creating tutorial videos, ensuring the content is consistent and easy to understand with good pacing is crucial.
Relevant Experience - it doesn't have to be specific to the videos you see in the examples, editing is editing at the end of the day and you learn by doing, but you will need to show examples of videos you've edited so I can see your current experience
Design Skills (bonus) - if you know motion graphics - AMAZING! If you don't know motion graphics but you know what fonts look good together and can design simple titles as seen above then that's great!
Software Programs - Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva
Why Newcastle or surrounding area based? Although this is a work from home / remote role, Samantha wants to grow her team where she's currently based which is the North East of England. Being able to commute and meet with Samantha in Newcastle to exchange hard drives or collect your editing laptop is super helpful and preferred.
Interviews will take place the week commencing January 3rd, 2023 with a final decision being made January 6th, 2023 and work commencing January 9th, 2023.
And if you've gotten this far, thank you! Just so I know who read the entire job post in full, please tell me your favorite film or TV show of 2022 in your email to me. I really hope to hear from you soon!
